MusicSpace is an on-going weekly program for people to get involved in music. Anyone can join in at MusicSpace and in particular, we are a welcoming community for people who experience disability or disadvantage in any form. Experienced musicians and Registered Music Therapists support members to follow their interests, whether it is to learn an instrument, sing, write songs, play in a band, perform, record or just hang out with fellow music lovers. Members have the opportunity to develop their creative potential and to make friends along the way. MusicSpace responds to a critical gap in the local music scene.

Dr Mel Murphy
Mel is a registered music therapist and is passionate about supporting all people to be involved in music. Her PhD research focused on access to pursuing music interests for young people with disabilities leaving school. This led to the formation of the band, “The Rockheads” with a group of young people. The popularity of the band then grew into MusicSpace to allow more people to pursue their passions. She has run several community singing groups and has a private music therapy practice in Geelong working with NDIS participants.

Greg Stebbing
Greg has been using music to support well-being since 1985. He has been working as a music therapist in a wide variety of settings since 1990. As a guitarist, kit drummer and singer he has been in many bands playing a variety of music including country, rock, pop, acoustic and world music. His most recent gig was playing with the Rockheads in Torquay late last year. He likes to write songs and has produced a CD of all original music. Greg's passion is encouraging and supporting others  in making their own music.

Lachie Chomley
Lachie loves singing, particularly with other people! He grew up participating in different choirs, musical theatre shows and acapella groups. Lachie writes songs, sings and plays guitar for 'Seal Prince and the Roof Rats' and is passionate about the role music and singing can play in carrying communities through life’s ups and downs.

Rach Brennan
Rach is a songwriter, musician, teacher and local promoter for Sofar Sounds. She has toured throughout Australia, Europe and the UK, having released music with her band Rach Brennan & The Pines. Rach is passionate about working with emerging artists, bolstering the talents and confidence of young people in the music industry and putting on inclusive events with diverse lineups. She is inspired by collaboration and is so grateful to have worked on various programs with Bluebird Foundation over the last eight years.
