Geelong Design Week (GDW) is an annual community celebration of local design excellence and Geelong’s designation as Australia’s only UNESCO Creative City of Design.
This year’s program, running from 17-27 March 2022, features a range
of installations, exhibitions, and workshops as well as walks, talks, and tours that will investigate and illustrate the vital role design plays in our everyday life.
The theme which has shaped this year’s program is ‘taur’ which means belonging in the language of the local Wadawurrung people, Traditional Owners of Djilang (Geelong).
Belonging is our emotional need to be accepted. It gives us purpose, enhances satisfaction, happiness, health and longevity. Belonging
helps create identity, acceptance and inclusion in our community and across society.
Geelong Design Week will explore how design can respond to our need to belong, how we create places and sustainable environments that are accessible to everyone and how being connected improves life.
