Meet some of the talented artists who give their heart and soul to Bluebird Foundation projects:
Bron Lawson (Program Manager)
A founding member of Bluebird Foundation, Bron Lawson develops and manages arts projects that respond to community needs and galvanise collaboration amongst local organisations, businesses and individuals. Her creative work has touched many organisations including Bluebird Foundation, Kids Plus, the Geelong Youth Choir and Noah's Ark. She is an experienced and passionate practitioner, facilitating parent-child music groups and music education programs in classroom and choral settings. Sarah Moore (Venue Operations Co-ordinator)
Sarah coordinates Bluebird House, a vibrant social enterprise where community-minded organisations come together to create and connect. With a background in Jewellery Design, a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), and a passion for creative engagement, she brings a unique blend of artistry and communication skills to her role.
Having worked with the Melbourne Museum and aboard the Coral Princess, Sarah has a rich history of fostering creativity and connection in diverse settings. Now based in Geelong, she enjoys crafting with her young family and supporting the talented artists who make Bluebird House a hub of inspiration and collaboration. Lucy Jones (Grant & Partnerships Manager)
Lucy is a freelance arts practitioner and educator. After graduating from WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts), she helped to produce, direct and perform in shows for the highly successful Melbourne community event, Lunchtime Theatre. She went on to create several award-winning shows for the Melbourne Fringe and at La Mama, and also composed music for Melbourne Workers Theatre, Postcard Productions, and various short films. Since moving to Geelong, Jones has worked extensively in schools as a teaching artist for both The Song Room and Bluebird Foundation, bringing music and performing arts to disadvantaged youth, as well as providing mentoring in these fields for classroom teachers. Jones also conducted the Vivace choir for younger children at the Geelong Youth Choir, and Geelong Harmony, an adult a cappella barbershop choir and now works with young singers at NORTH Children’s Choir. Laura Alice
Laura Alice is a multi award-winning Geelong-based Artist and Creative Director who specialises in cutting-edge projects that are empowering and collaborative.
Laura’s Collaborative Therapeutic Storytelling technique has formed a basis for artistic outcomes that have gone on to receive international recognition for their excellence and integrity. With over 10 years of experience in creating complex artistic projects spanning film, immersive installation, animation, street art and augmented reality; Laura possesses a deep-seated curiosity that drives her practice.
Her work is soulful, ethereal and full of wonder and warmth; fostering meaningful connections with audiences and blurring the lines between artist and observer, and the seen and unseen.
Levi Anderson
Singer-songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Levi Anderson performs as the front-man of The Kite Machine. He studied an Advanced Diploma of Music and has been crafting his skills for almost 20 years, working as a professional musician, producer and mixing engineer. His vast knowledge and experience in the music industry has hugely benefited his work in the studio having mixed and mastered dozens of projects as well as working as a session guitarist, bassist and drummer.
Rach Brennan
Rach is a songwriter, musician, teacher and local promoter for Sofar Sounds. She has toured throughout Australia, Europe and the UK, having released music with her band Rach Brennan & The Pines. Rach is passionate about working with emerging artists, bolstering the talents and confidence of young people in the music industry and putting on inclusive events with diverse lineups. She is inspired by collaboration and is so grateful to have worked on various programs with The Bluebird Foundation over the last eight years.
Stacey Cadman
Creative Mindfulness is facilitated by Stacey (she/her), a local art therapist who lives and works by the values: Inclusivity, Playfulness, Connection. Stacey has supported people in community, government, and mental health settings, and is passionate about making art and creativity accessible for everyone. Stacey is a neurodivergent affirming and LGBTIQA+ affirming therapist, and a proud member of both communities.
Lachie Chomley
Lachie loves singing, particularly with other people! He grew up participating in different choirs, musical theatre shows and acapella groups. Lachie writes songs, sings and plays guitar for 'Seal Prince and the Roof Rats' and is passionate about the role music and singing can play in carrying communities through life’s ups and downs.
Sarah Clarkson
Sarah brings a lifetime of outdoor adventure, stories, scientific discovery and sense of fun to her various roles at Bluebird Foundation. She's a Scientist, a Nutritionist, a Teacher, a parent, a world traveller, a foodie and a passionate advocate for children and their right to play, explore, connect and learn. Sarah is the facilitator of First Steps in Nature, Parent Support Worker for First Steps in 3219, Family Liaison Officer at NORTH Children's Choir and Propeller Support Worker. She is also a regular contributor to littlebluebirds blog, writing about food and outdoor adventures.
Sarah's own values align very well with Bluebird Foundation's values. She's always looking to find joy in her life/work, to engage with integrity and to create spaces that are genuinely open and inclusive. Sarah has been connected with Bluebird Foundation from its earliest days and is proud to continue enjoying the challenges and the joys each week brings.
Tiffany Eckhardt
Tiffany Eckhardt is a graduating Registered Music Therapist with a long history of working as a community musician, choir director and singer-songwriter who has released 12 solo albums. She is passionate about supporting people to discover their own inner musician, and is particularly inspired to connect people, support self-confidence, and build community through the joy of collaborative music making.
Luke Elliot
Luke Elliot is an art maker, actor, facilitator, therapist and counsellor. He has thirty years of experience working with others to create art and theatre and has developed those skills and experiences into therapeutic practice and counselling. He has worked with young and old to make art and supports people to use art-making to inquire into their lives, self, others and relationships to understand values, wants and needs. Luke loves working with others and exploring art-making to enhance life and because it’s fun.
Dr Dave Kelman
Dave has worked for the last thirty years as a youth theatre director, writer, researcher and drama educator in Melbourne and Leeds UK. He has directed critically acclaimed works at the Malthouse Theatre, has delivered many innovative arts residencies in schools, is a widely published researcher and is an award-winning lecturer in arts education. He has a doctorate in drama education from the University of Melbourne.
Meg Kingsley
Meg started piano studies at the age of 5 to help as a therapy aid. In high school, the music teacher gave her opportunities to learn the skill of piano accompanying, playing for many orchestras, choirs, masses, soloists and Eisteddfods. She studied the piano for 3 years at the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne before relocating overseas. Meg worked as a piano accompanist in Dubai before moving to Geelong in 2004. She is very proud to have been the accompanist with NORTH Children's Choir since it's inception.
Kate Lee
Kate has been involved with the arts for the last 40 years, engaging in many different mediums over this time. She has been facilitating art groups for the last 10 years in school art rooms and in her current role at Leisure Networks with all abilities. Her infectious personality and can-do attitude brings out the best in every artist.
Joshua Maxwell de Hoog
Joshua Maxwell de Hoog is a Geelong-based multidisciplinary maker. They are passionate about illustration, self publication and the preservation of interesting graphic or physical oddities. Playing in Geelong's most experimental Jazz band, Final Final, Joshua combines their love for the visual medium into musical output, and their passion for music is clearly evident in their visual art. De Hoog is a great advocate for the importance of mutual inspiration and works tirelessly to create spaces welcoming for all to express their creativity and explore their passion. They are dedicated to fostering young minds and creative thinkers. Having been in the arts business and gallery world for over fifteen years, Joshua has a strong ability to turn drawn or collected images into professional output, and they love sharing their ideas and knowledge both in teaching and in collaboration.
Liz McGrath
An experienced art teacher and community artist, Liz delights in finding ways for others to get creative. Each week she works from a number of platforms, with people ranging from pre-schoolers to seniors, with teenagers and parents, and with children and adults who have special needs. Connected to Bluebird since 2013 Liz also juggles roles with genU, Barwon Valley School and GPAC, and on the major art events Mountain to Mouth and Geelong After Dark. She loves engaging schools and organisations on community art projects and has a special interest in diversity and arts access.
Michaela McHugh
Frolicking around the creek beds of Wadawurrung country, Michaela is an eclectic creator and maker of wild things. Working as a visual and tactile artist, solo and collaboratively, she hangs out with all kinds of folks, little humans, big humans and creatures doing bush skill programs on the surf coast. She also gets up to food growing, landcare regeneration work, yin yoga and community engagement in her local neighbourhood of Norlane. Michaela is all about connecting with place, nature and each other. This usually comes with playing with found nature and rubbish to magic up all kinds of moments, art and connective experiences.
Laura Moore
Laura Moore is a passionate music educator and thoroughly enjoys working with students through choirs, ensembles, private and classroom teaching. She has worked as a strings and choral conductor for 15 years across a wide variety of programs, including Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Pizzicato Effect, Border Music Camp, NSW Arts Unit, Riverina Strings and Recorder Camp and a number of primary and secondary schools.
As well as an enthusiastic educator, Laura specialises in Historical Performance Practice, teaching and performing on the Viola da Gamba and baroque cello. She has made guest appearances with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Ironwood Chamber Ensemble and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. Laura has also participated in many ABC recordings with ensembles such as Josie and the Emeralds and Latitude 37.
Mel Murphy
Mel is a registered music therapist and is passionate about supporting all people to be involved in music. Her PhD research focused on access to pursuing music interests for young people with disabilities leaving school. This led to the formation of the band, “The Rockheads” with a group of young people. The popularity of the band then grew into MusicSpace to allow more people to pursue their passions. She has run several community singing groups and has a private music therapy practice in Geelong working with NDIS participants.
Emily Rastas
Emily Rastas, Finnish-Australian artist and designer currently working and living in Geelong, working predominantly in the realms of painting, wearable art, sculpture, apparel and installation. Emily is passionate about sustainability and slow fashion, her brand Emipeli Design sells her upcycled clothing range, hand painted shoes and boots, and unique accessories made from discarded fabric waste.
Bronte Stead
Bronte brings his love for creating & working with people of all ages to Bluebird Foundation. He has been in various roles in the creative industry including designing, photographing, illustrating, writing & teaching. He has written and illustrated several self-published children’s books including, ‘The Broken Horse’. He works for a local training organisation teaching photography & graphic design, has operated as a freelance artist in varied roles, & has trained students in art, design & media. Bronte is passionate about art & sharing his wealth of knowledge.
Greg Stebbing
Greg has been using music to support well-being since 1985. He has been working as a music therapist in a wide variety of settings since 1990. As a guitarist, kit drummer and singer he has been in many bands playing a variety of music including country, rock, pop, acoustic and world music. His most recent gig was playing with the Rockheads in Torquay late last year. He likes to write songs and has produced a CD of all original music. Greg's passion is encouraging and supporting others in making their own music.
Bec Wilson
Bec has always enjoyed making, drawing and painting. Her whimsical style is inspired by her love of gardening and her four children and their love of the outdoors, rabbits, foxes, sunflowers and fairies. Bec is a regular contributor to little bluebirds and a treasured Workshop artist. Bec values her local community and recently led the Zineverleigh festival, a celebration of creative illustration and Zines held in Inverleigh.
